Mendel Mann (1916–1975) was a Polish-born writer and artist, a prominent figure in Yiddish literature and European Expressionist painting. His pictorial work, imbued with melancholy and poetry, reflects the landscapes of his childhood in Eastern Europe, traversed by cold light and winter silences.

This watercolor on paper, dated to the 1950s–1960s, depicts a winter landscape with a rural path bordered by bare trees. The delicate washes in gray, ochre, and rust tones sensitively convey the silent and poetic atmosphere of a snow-covered landscape. The work is presented in an old carved gilt frame.
