Pierre Eugène Montézin (1874–1946) was one of the great French Post-Impressionist painters, a member of the Académie des Beaux-Arts and winner of the Prix de Rome. His landscapes, with their great chromatic freshness, sensitively capture the light and vegetation of the French countryside. His works are featured in numerous museums and are regularly offered at major auctions.

This watercolor on paper, dated 1905–1925, depicts a wooded landscape with undergrowth at the edge. The vibrant strokes and luminous greens demonstrate Montézin's mastery in rendering light filtered through foliage. The work is presented in a large, very flattering antique gilded frame.
