Louis JULLIEN-ROUSSET (1859-1921) - View of Tangier from an arcade
€350,00
Louis Jullien-Rousset (1859–1921) was a French Orientalist painter who traveled to North Africa at the turn of the 20th century. His watercolors, with their great delicacy of touch, poetically depict the landscapes, architecture, and atmospheres of Maghrebi cities, in the tradition of the great French Orientalists.
This watercolor on paper, located and dated 1911, depicts a view of Tangier from a Moorish archway. A veiled figure sits in the foreground, while the white city and its minarets unfold on the horizon under a milky sky. The slight patinas of the old paper attest to the age and authenticity of the work. Presented in an old frame.
